Hello from Ghana

Everthing has been going very well so far in West Africa. The staging in Phili was alot of fun everyone in my group of 50 is really cool and fun to be around. During one of our training sessions a man who happened to be at an acounting seminar at the hotel wanted to say hi to our group-it turns out that he is from a very rural part of Ghana and was educated from the first three groups of PC volunteers here and that if it wasn't for them he would not be here today. It was a really amazing feeling hearing him talk about how much of a difference PC has made in his life.

I have been in Ghana for over a week now and will give you a summary of what it has been like. The first 4 days we stayed in Tesano at a University which had running water and electricity although you can't drink the water. We went through some language courses which were probably the best classes so far-the language is Twi. From Tesano we all went on our own to different areas in Ghana to job shadow another volunteer. I went to Wasa Monso in the Western Region yesterday and am now in Takorati-On Sunday I leave for Techiman where I think I will be staying for 2.5 months for training. So far the experience has been definitely what I was looking for. I have eaten all traditional food, traveled around the country (sometimes wondering if the the tro tro bus that I am in will make it there and when it does I wonder how?), celebrated PC 45th anniversary of being in Ghana with the president of Ghana, and made many new friends. My time is running out so I will try and write again soon.
